Our Eco Council has had an exceptionally impactful year, taking active strides to inspire sustainable habits across our school and local community. From raising environmental awareness during key events like Earth Day, World Ocean Day, and Recycling Week, to celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s milestone 100th birthday, we have drawn continuous inspiration from nature’s greatest champions. Taking that passion into global and local action, we raised funds for WaterAid to support clean water initiatives, adopted an orangutan and a snow leopard through Chester Zoo, and partnered with the Swift Project to install nesting opportunities to welcome migratory birds back into our skies. The ultimate recognition of our hard work came when a representative from Keep Wales Tidy assessed our initiatives as part of the Eco-Schools program, culminating in our school successfully retaining our prestigious Platinum Flag status—a true testament to our community’s ongoing dedication to a greener future.

Every class created a Eco wreath with every child’s eco promise. These are displayed in each class. All pupils took part in creating junk models using recycling materials, litter picked around the class, bird watch and Eco council measured food waste and paper recycling.

Eco-schools day . Diwrnod Ysgolion-Eco
In June Eco-council representatives visited Clawddnewydd to take part in Eco-schools activities. We learnt about the power of seaweed, visited the borrow bus, analysed our soil and learnt about the problem of litter on Snowdon.
